Darran Griffiths is a comedy act with a touch of Caribbean conviction and Essex cheekiness. He was born and brought up in Harlow to Jamaican parents and to date has performed at some of the London’s top comedy clubs, including The Comedy Store, Top Secret, The 100 Club and also The Hackney Empire. For a number of years now Darran Griffiths has supported some of the biggest names in comedy. These have included names like Russell Howard, Iain Stirling, Judi Love. Also, Simon Brodkin and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Kojo Amin.
2023 saw Darran debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe with his brand new show, Inconceivable. The show takes a comedic and candid look at the ups and downs of handling infertility and also IVF. He does this in the pursuit of becoming a dad, a better husband and maybe a better person. He has actually become a bit of an expert on the subject, he knows all the scientific terms including the ‘Baby Doctor’. Also, in between shows, he’s been podcasting on a daily basis.
Darren’s normally weekly podcast is called Griff’s Brain Dump. He started it in 2017 discussing his life along with current affairs. It is available on Apple Podcasts.
After an exciting debut on the comedian circuit in 2018, Darran ended up being a nominee for the BBC’s New Comedy Award. He was also a runner-up at Leicester Square Theatre’s New Comedian. Next, he sold out his debut ‘Essex Bwoy’ show at the Camden Fringe in 2019.
In 2021 he was a semi-finalist at the British Comedian of the Year awards. The following year Darran Griffiths reached the semi-finals of BBC’s New Comedy Award. He was also a semi finalist at the British Comedian of the Year awards.
TV & RADIO:
Darran’s TV and Radio credits include BBC Three, Yanga TV, BBC Radio and Pulse88 FM. This is where he presented and produced a weekly Saturday morning radio show called the Saturday Morning Hangover. He has been tour support for BBC Radio’s Aurie Styla and performed as part of the national WAHALA Tour: Jamaica vs Africa, with Britain’s Got Talents’ Kojo Anim.
2023 saw Darran Griffiths launch another weekly podcast on parenthood called Late Nights & Wet Wipes. This is a weekly podcast which he co-hosts alongside fellow comedians and recent father, Kazeem Jamal & Michael Akadiri.
