Richard Gadd is an award-winning Scottish writer, actor and comedian. Recently he wrote and starred in the hit Netflix show, Baby Reindeer. Richard received rave reviews, and it became the number 1 most-watched Netflix show globally on the week of its release. It’s all about a real life case of obsession and stalking which the New York Times described as an “astonishing stalker drama”. Richard had originally debuted Baby Reindeer as a one man show at the Fringe in Edinburgh. That was back in 2019, before he took it for runs in theatres both in London and New York.
The Evening Standard said it’s “not for the faint-hearted”.
Richard Gadd won the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Comedy Show at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe. This was with his hit show Monkey See, Monkey Do. The show was also nominated for a Total Theatre Award for Innovation. Later that same year, Richard won a Chortle Comedian’s Comedian Award. He was nominated and won an Olivier Award for outstanding achievement and an Off West End Theatre Award for Best Performer.
He is also a successful actor and writer. Richard starred opposite Daniel Mays in the BAFTA-nominated BBC2 single drama Against the Law and writing episodes of Netflix smash hit Sex Education.
This was as well as Ultimate Worrier for the Dave channel and The Last Leg for Channel 4 where he is also one of their correspondents.
In February 2024 the BBC announced the commissioning of Richard Gadd’s new six part drama, Lions. This is about two brothers in Glasgow and will be shown on BBC1 and BBC Scotland
Richard Gadd is now available for stand-up and also keynote speaking. In his keynote, Richard talks about his real life experience of stalking.
