Ellie Taylor is a comedian, actress, television personality, and also a best selling author. She catapulted to fame on ITV’s Show Me the Funny in 2011. Since then, she’s made notable appearances on popular television shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, and The Mash Report. Ellie also showcased her hosting abilities on shows like Snog Marry Avoid? and The Great Pottery Throw Down.
What’s next? I hear you ask. Well 2025 was something completely different as Ellie became a contestant on BBC One’s Celebrity Gladiators.
Stand-Up Comedy and Writing
Ellie’s comedic talent shines in her stand-up specials, which include Elementary which she performed in 2015, Infidelity in 2016 and This Guy which was in 2017 and 2018. In 2019 her show was called Cravings and between 2019 and 2021 she performed Don’t Got This.
Her book, My Child and Other Mistakes, was published in 2021 and quickly became a Sunday Times bestseller. The book reflected her relatable humour and insightful storytelling. Jo Brand said it was “Very, very, very funny”. One reader gave it 5 stars and suggested health visitors should carry copies, to give to new mothers.
Acting and Personal Life
Ellie’s acting career also saw a significant boost with her role as Flo “Sassy” Collins in the acclaimed Apple TV series Ted Lasso which ran between 2020 and 2023. Her engaging performance in the series earned her international recognition and also a much broader fan base.
Ellie Taylor is married to Phil Black, a freelance Australian reporter. The couple also have two children and reside in London. With her sharp wit, engaging stage presence, and versatile talents, Ellie continues to be a prominent figure in the UK comedy scene and entertainment industry.
