Connor Burns has quickly become one of the most exciting emerging acts on the Scottish comedy circuit. He currently has almost 80,000 followers on Instagram and over 50,000 on TikTok. Since his first open spot in 2017, he has created and toured three solo shows. Connor’s material is hilarious and relatable. His brilliant delivery and proper belly laughs have earned him the title of Scotland’s fastest-rising comedy talent.
Writing Contributions
Despite his short time in the industry, Connor Burns has made a significant impression with his writing skills. Material has been written for Larry Dean on BBC’s Mock the Week by him. Furthermore, he served as head writer and co-host for Tom Stade’s Dangerous Space, an immersive online comedy chat show.
Solo Debut and Online Adaptation
Connor made his solo debut at the 2019 Edinburgh Free Fringe with “Eh?,” a no-holds-barred dissection of his laughable life. In early 2020, his first full-hour show, “Loaded,” was written. It was set to premiere at the Stand Comedy Club before COVID-19 cancelled the Fringe. Adapting quickly, Connor turned to online gigging. He appeared on The Stand Saturday Live Streams, where over ten thousand viewers worldwide watched.
International Tours and Festivals
In 2022, Connor Burns toured Australia three times in a single year. Additionally, a set was taped for the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Sydney. His show “Live Laugh Loathe” had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe. Moreover, his solo debut at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival at the Stand Comedy Club was sold out.
Success with “Vertigo”
In 2023, “Vertigo” was premiered by Connor in Glasgow, followed by a tour across Australia. Solo shows were sold out at major comedy festivals. Notably, he opened for Daniel Sloss on his international tour and closed the Sydney Comedy Festival gala at the Sydney Opera House. After selling out five performances of “Vertigo” at the Glasgow Stand, two shows were filmed for his debut comedy special.
Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Connor Burns’ 2023 Edinburgh Festival Fringe was a resounding success. He earned 5-star reviews from The Scotsman and sold over 4,300 seats due to enormous audience demand. Consequently, this success led to his first major tour with Phil McIntyre Live Ltd, with dates across the UK in 2023 and 2024. 2025 and Connor is back at the Fringe with his latest show: Gallus.
Recognitions and Regular Performances
Singled out by Chortle as one of their ‘Ones To Watch In 2020,’ Connor regularly performs and MCs in the UK’s major comedy clubs. Additionally, he enjoys Comedy Roast battles. He was nominated for the Scottish Comedy Awards Best Newcomer in 2019 and 2020. Moreover, he was a finalist in the 2020 Amused Moose new act competition. Connor has supported both Larry Dean and Daniel Sloss on their UK and Australian tours. Additionally, his solo shows in both countries were sold out.
