Credentials and Impact
Mark’s career began at Middlesex, where his natural talent quickly shone through, earning him an England debut in 1991. He later moved to Surrey, where he cemented his reputation as one of the finest batsmen of his generation. In 2006, he produced a remarkable season, scoring 2,000 runs in just 20 innings and becoming one of only six players to average over 100 in a first-class season. His coaching tenure included contributing to England’s batting strength during their successful 2019 World Cup campaign.
