Jamie McAnsh is an inspirational adventurer, award-winning athlete and motivational speaker whose extraordinary resilience has redefined the meaning of determination. Paralysed overnight in 2014 and diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Jamie refused to let his condition define him. Since then, he has achieved an incredible series of world-firsts, including becoming the first person with CRPS to reach Mount Everest Base Camp on crutches and the first person with bilateral CRPS to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. Jamie’s story began with an unexpected life-changing moment in 2014 when he woke up paralysed from the waist down. Despite the devastating diagnosis of CRPS, he refused to surrender to circumstance. Instead, he channelled his energy into breaking barriers and inspiring others through his achievements. He became the first person to climb Pen y Fan Mountain on his hands, the first wheelchair user to complete the 30k WAAT4 Challenge across the Brecon Beacons, and the first disabled player to compete in the Welsh Open Squash Tournament. His passion for pushing boundaries has seen him complete 12 extreme challenges in 12 months, raise over £250,000 for charity, represent Wales in wheelchair rugby and hand-cycle 100 miles in 13 hours. In 2022, Jamie reached Mount Everest Base Camp on crutches, followed by a historic climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in 2024, becoming the first person with bilateral CRPS to achieve this feat.
Beyond his physical accomplishments, Jamie has built a successful career as the Founder of See No Bounds, an inclusion-led business community, and was appointed to the Forbes DEI and HR Council in 2025. His remarkable journey has earned him numerous accolades, including the Brave Briton Award, the Charles Holland “Against All Odds” Award and the WAAT4 Greatest Achievement Award.
