Philippa (Pip) Tomson joined the Breakfast show of GB News in 2023. She is an award-winning presenter with an ability to communicate with her audience. It was this ability that saw her rise from television production journalist to main news presenter within the space of just 4 years.
Originally from York, Pip Tomson trained as a print journalist at the Midlands based Express & Star newspaper. She cut her teeth on the weekly editions before moving onto the newspaper’s headline Wolverhampton edition. After graduating to the position of chief reporter aged 23, she decided to make the difficult leap into television.
In 2002, Philippa Tomson joined ITV Central in Birmingham. This is where she worked as a producer, reporter and presenter. She regularly co-hosted the 6pm show with long-standing news anchor Bob Warman. In 2006, she went on to co-present ITV1’s North East Tonight and Border’s Look-Around that made her the region’s household name.
Philippa has also worked as a freelance presenter on the 24-hour ITV News Channel and has presented on ITV’s London Tonight, Central News East, ITV West Country as well as the weekly current affairs programme Central Extra. You may have also seen Pip presenting the weather forecasts on Daybreak and GMTV. In August 2006 she accepted an offer to co-present North East Tonight with ITV Tyne Tees.
It was in 2012 Pip then became part of the Sky News team presenting the news as it happens on their 24hour channel. She then returned to Daybreak as a correspondent for the news in 2013 and stayed for the next 10 years. The following year in 2014, Daybreak changed it’s name to Good Morning Britain (GMB). She left GMB in May 23 and joined GB News.
Aside from live news, Philippa (Pip) Tomson relishes the challenge of presenting in front of a large audience. She expertly fits demand in the corporate sector around her television presenting role. With her background as a news anchor, where the unexpected often happens, Phillipa is able to confidently host any event and stamp her warm personality on any occasion.
