Craig Hill comedian is one of Scotland’s brightest and biggest comedy stars and is known and loved for his cheeky, irreverent and disarmingly camp performances. Incisive stand-up, comic characterisations and improvisation stylishly blend with sublimely out-of-context musical diva impersonations and audience interactions.
Craig’s first public success came at age ten. He won a local talent contest in his native East Kilbride, impersonating Cleo Laine. In 1991 Craig moved to Edinburgh in order to study Drama at Queen Margaret College, graduating in 1994. His comedy characters as well as his ability to improvise and write material led him naturally, but not directly, into stand-up. He was still an actor, working in Theatre In Education and pantomimes when a friend secretly booked him in for an ‘open spot’ in 1998. So terrified that he had to be shoved on stage, it was his first ever stand-up comedy performance. Craig was hooked.
In 2002, Craig Hill comedian recorded his first series for BBC Radio Scotland ”Craig Hill’s Passionate Encounter”, and he went on to front the BBC radio comedy quiz, ”Famous For Five Minutes”.
From 2002 to 2003 Craig featured in all episodes of series one and two of BBC Scotland’s Friday night comedy variety programme ”Live Floor Show”, and remained a regular when it was promoted to BBC Two in 2003. He also starred in his own BBC show ”Craig Hill’s Out Tonight”.
He has performed his new smash-hit solo shows to sell out audiences for the past 17 Edinburgh Festival Fringes, and tours constantly nationwide as well as internationally.
2025 will see Craig once again at the Fringe in Edinburgh for his 18th year with his new show: Wait ‘Til You See My Entrance!

In 2008 Craig Hill stormed a 35 minute solo set on the London Palladium stage. He starred in the co-hosting role of ”Sergei” in the UK tour of smash-hit spoof Eurovision show Eurobeat. In July, he hosted the Britcom series and a Bubbling With Laughter show at Just For Laugh. He also hosted a star-studded variety show ”Forbidden Vaudeville” especially produced for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s private Sydmonton Festival. Craig sold every seat in a record-breking 10th Edinburgh festival season. He then concluded the year with 2 sell-out shows at the Traverse theatre in Edinburgh with ”Craig Hill’s Alternative Christmas”.
