Ben Shephard is a presenter who has been on our screens since 1998. He has always been a huge sports fan who supports West Ham Supporter (he famously got Britney Spears to admit she was a fan of the Hammers). Ben enjoys both rugby & football. You could say “Ben is an extreme sports fanatic”. Other sports he is known to participate in include kitesurfing, wakeboarding and surfing, as well as racing Fiestas for Team Ford.
EARLY DAYS:
Ben got his first TV break in March 1998 when he hosted Control Freaks for Channel 4. This was swiftly followed by co-hosting The Bigger Breakfast (Ch4) with Melanie Sykes and such was Ben’s success that he subsequently became a regular presenter along side Mel and Josie D’Arby
In 1998, Ben launched the cult Sunday morning TV show, T4 and remained its anchor/presenter for the next 12 moths. Next, Ben joined ITV2’s successful magazine show Bedrock.
2000 was a much busier year for Ben. He became the regular main presenter of Eastenders Revealed and Planet Pop for Ch4, whilst also co-presenting MTV Select with Kelly Brook, Exclusive (CH5) with Lisa Rogers and Maths 4 Real for Ch4.
FROM 2000:
In 2000, Ben Shephard presenter joined GMTV as the co-host of ITV’s Entertainment Today with Jenni Falconer. This is where he interviewed literally hundreds of celebrities including the likes of Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Halli Berry, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Affleck, Sandra Bullock and Nicholas Cage.
Ben first sat on the GMTV sofa as a stand in for Eamonn Holmes in 2003. He was at that time the youngest male to ever do so! He took over the reigns in 2005, sharing the duties with Andrew Castle.
Other presentation credits include ITV’s Pop Idol 2003 The Final, The Great British Driving Test and Am I Good in Bed. He presented Britain’s first ever sex survey then joined the presentation teams of both BBC’s Holiday on a Shoestring and Summer Holiday. Sing With A Star on ITV was another, then he hosted coverage of ITV’s British Soap Awards for three years. He also presented The Southampton Boat Show for ITV. Ben co-hosted the ITV coverage of The BAFTA Television Awards in 2004 and also The British Soap Awards with Jenni Falconer.
From 4 moths in 2004, Ben presented his own show for ITV2 The Xtra Factor. This was the now highly acclaimed companion show to ITV1’s The X Factor. Ben also repeated this in the 2005 heats and again in 2006. In October 04 Ben participated in The Match (Sky One) and re-joined the squad for the re-match the following year.
Whilst continuing to present GMTV & Entertainment Today, Ben also co-presented Solution Street with Gaby Roslin. He hosted the ITV1 Saturday night special ‘Discomania 2’ with Gloria Gaynor. Ben then filmed two Behind the Scenes Specials for ITV1 on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
In early 2006 and along with co-presenter Fern Britton, Ben Shephard presented the reality TV show Soapstar Superstar which was won by Coronation Street’s Richard Fleeshman.
Ben co-hosted Who Dares Sings in 2008 along with Denise van Outen. He then presented a couple of One Night Only shows. Firstly with Rod Stewart and then the following year with Phil Collins. The Krypton Factor was next to get the Ben Shepherd treatment after ITV revived it in 2009.
MORE RECENT:
Moving on to 2012 Ben had started presenting Tipping Point which was a new game show. Ten years later Ben is still presenting it.
We could go on but Ben Shephard is a presenter on TV who is instantly recognisable. He is often the first choice of host for corporate awards.
