Andy Nicol is a rugby legend who is also a proud Dundonian who won 23 Caps with Scotland. This was over a 10 year career. He was captain when Scotland won the Calcutta Cup in 2000. Andy enjoyed a long and successful career with Bath, where he became the first UK player to lift the prestigious Heineken Cup in 1998.
Andy Nicol was inducted into the Scottish Rugby Hall of Fame in 2003.
Since retiring from the professional game, Andy Nicol rugby spent a number of years working in the financial sector. He became Director of Business Development at Adam and Company. Currently, he is now Chief Executive Officer at Abstract UK a multinational learning and development company. Andy also works for the BBC in their coverage of rugby. He is well known for his excellent and unbiased presenting of the game.
Andy Nicol is well known on the after dinner circuit. He now regularly hosts dinners, conferences and also business seminars. He is a keen golfer, with a handicap of 11 and is happily married to wife Janet. Andy also has two daughters, Natasha and Gabriella.
Andy Nicol rugby won his first cap against England in 1992. He has played for numerous teams including the British Lions, the Barbarians and Bath. Earlier times saw him as captain for Glasgow Rugby. However, it all really started back in 1989, when he played for Dundee High RFC.
Andy started on the speaking circuit in 2003 after retiring from professional rugby. He is totally at home when hosting events but also delivering after-dinner speeches. Andy has spoken throughout the UK and Ireland. He has also spoken in far flung places, such as Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Dubai and also France.
