Bennett was a victim of Identity Theft, the fastest growing crime in the UK. The result of this theft was that Bennett and his pregnant wife became penniless and homeless. Six years later, Bennett wrote a comedy show about his experience.
The show, It Wasn’t Me, It Was Bennett Arron, was a disturbingly true yet also funny account of what it’s like to have your identity stolen. The show was critically acclaimed at the Edinburgh Festival and led to Bennett being asked to direct and present a Documentary for Channel 4.
Channel 4 Documentary:
In the Programme, Bennett proved, through a series of stunts, how easy the crime of ID Theft is to carry out. Bennett also managed to steal the identity of the then Home Secretary, Charles Clarke. The Documentary was Pick of The Week in The Guardian and also in The Telegraph. It was called Fascinating and Disturbing by the TV Times. Later, it went on to be shortlisted for a BAFTA.
Bennett Arron now uses his distinctive experiences and also his comedic talent to educate and amuse corporate audiences globally on topics such as identity theft, fraud, and cybersecurity. His refreshingly humorous style makes these serious subjects both approachable and also unforgettable.
Bennett has performed his show at corporate events all around the country. Also, his experience saw him being asked to be the Guest Speaker at the International Fraud Convention in Rome. He also spoke at the International Congress on Anti-Fraud & Anti-Corruption in Poland.
