Brian Whittle is a former Olympic international athlete with 45 Great Britain Caps to his name. He competed in all major championships including Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games winning 6 major medals. He is best remembered for his leg in the 4x400m relay with Derek Redmond, Kriss Akabusi and Roger Black at the European Championships in 1986 where, after having his spike ripped off by Kriss when passing the baton, he went on to run his leg with one shoe on helping to secure Great Britain the Gold medal.
Since then Brian has been a successful business man. During this time he built himself a reputation for delivering presentations and programmes that highlight motivation, communication and team development both in theory and also practical application in the workplace. His interactive style and unique wit, coupled with an easy sense of humour ensures that delegates have a great deal of fun while they absorb his innovative techniques on self-development within the team dynamic.
Scottish Politics:
Brian Whittle is currently the Scottish Parliament’s Shadow Minister for Environment, Biodiversity and Land Reform. Between 2016 and 2020 he was the Shadow Spokesperson for Sport and Well Being. This was later changed to Shadow Minister for Public Health, Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport. He held that position till 2024.
Brian is a prolific speaker having been asked to speak in over 130 debates. He is comfortable talking sport, motivation and politics and always with a light hearted touch for which he is known.
Brian Whittle has appeared on many television programmes. These include, A Question of Sport, Sport in Question, Tomorrow’s World and Breakfast TV. At one time he was even invited to compete for Britain in International Gladiators!
