Chris McCausland is a blind comedian and actor from Liverpool. He has been performing stand-up since 2003. Chris has long been established at the very top of the UK’s comedy circuit. He has appeared three times on the BBC’s flagship stand-up show Live at the Apollo, and the long running comedy panel show Would I Lie To You?
In November 2021, Chris was seen by millions when he made his debut on the Royal Variety Performance. This was filmed at The Royal Albert Hall in front of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Over the last three years Chris has become a familiar face on TV having made appearances on comedy shows such as, Have I Got News for You (BBC One), Would I Lie to You? (BBC One), QI (BBC Two) and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4). He’s also appeared on Hypothetical (Dave), Alan Davies: As yet Untitled (Dave), Celebrity Chase (ITV) and Blankety Blank (BBC1). Others have included Celebrity Antiques Road Trip (BBC2), Unforgivable (Dave), Comedians Giving Lectures (Dave) to name but a very few.
He can also regularly be heard on Radio 4, with multiple appearances across shows such as The News Quiz, The Now Show, and Saturday Live.
His acting credits include: Jimmy McGovern’s Moving On (BBC One), Eastenders (BBC One), and Me Too! (Cbeebies). He also writes and fronts a national TV ad campaign for Barclays Bank.
Chris McCausland is a blind comedian. He lost his sight gradually due to a genetic condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa. He lives with his wife and young daughter in south west London.
2022 saw Chris McCausland (alongside fellow comedian Lee Mack) present the award for a female performance in a comedy programme at the 2022 Baftas. A clip can be seen of the presentation in the bottom video to the right.
Chris also took his rescheduled stand up show ‘Speaky Blinder’ on tour in March 2022. Chris has over 120 dates booked in for it across the whole of the UK. The tour finishes in May 2023.
