Clare Nasir’s first love has always been weather. She achieved a BSC in Mathematics and a MSC in Applied Marine Science at Plymouth University, where she specialized in the mathematics of the atmosphere and oceans. After leaving university she trained at the Met Office (1993) as a weather forecaster and spent the next eight years forecasting and presenting the weather.

Clare has worked in Met Office departments in London, Norwich and Plymouth. Her duties included aviation, marine and agricultural forecasting, radio weather bulletins and interviews and newspaper articles. She presented on Anglia TV before moving to Carlton.
Clare Nasir joined GMTV in 2000. Her duties included weather producer and presenter, Clare had full responsibility for all weather output and science related features on GMTV. These included renewable energy and climate change strands.
Additionally Clare also presented travel reports from worldwide destinations. She continues to be affiliated with Plymouth University and spends some of her free time talking to school classes about weather, climate change and science. Clare also studied for a further degree in Science and Environment.
Current:
These days Clare Nasir is back at Channel 5 presenting the weather for 5 News. She is also the author of a series of children’s books. The most recent was published in 2019 entitled, What Does The Rain Smell Like? Here, Clair provides answers to almost every question you could ask about the weather.
Clare Nasir is married to Chris Hawkins also a presenter but on BBC6 music. Apart from her passion for weather and science, Clare loves music. She often spends her spare time attending live gigs and playing saxophone and guitar at home.
