Daisy McAndrew is now a freelance presenter and journalist on TV and radio. She is probably best known for her time at both the BBC and ITV.
She started her career in politics working in Parliament from the mid to late 90’s. As a freelance journalist she later had access to The Press Gallery and by 1999 she became Charles Kennedy’s (Lib. Dem. Leader) Press Secretary. It was in 2001 just after the election, Daisy McAndrew then decided to take up broadcasting politics as her chosen career. Channel4 saw the potential and invited her to head their politics programme which was aired every day during lunch.
Andrew Neil saw the potential and soon she was at the BBC on his Daily Politics show co-hosting. She stayed with the BBC for a number of years and was often seen on BBC Breakfast presenting their Political section. She also worked on the BBC’s News at weekends. Daisy was now a very well known face and voice on both television and radio.
A move to ITV came in 2005 when Daisy McAndrew became the Chief Political Correspondent on the ITV News.
She now has over thirty years behind her working in politics but during this time she was also known for reporting on The Royal Family, having covered the death and funerals of both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip for NBC and earlier in February 2022 the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. She currently broadcasts on TALKTV which she was instrumental in its launch back in 2022.
