David Coulthard MBE

David Coulthard MBE is a Scottish former Formula 1 racing driver, known for scoring more points than any other British driver in the history of the sport.

Born in Dumfries David was in his early teens when he started racing in Formula 3 during the mid 80’s.

He entered the world of F1 racing at the age of 18. He became a test driver for Williams, who later gave him the big break with his first F1 race at the Spanish Grand Prix in 1994. The following year, saw David secure his first F1 win at the Portuguese Grand Prix in 1995.

David later moved to McLaren where he spent most of his driving career but he later left McLaren to set up Red Bull who he raced with up until he retired in 2008.

In 2008, he wrote his autobiography called, It Is What It Is and he also has a book on Leadership, Motivation and Strategy called The Winning Formula both are available from all good book sellers.

David Coulthard received an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List of 2010
