Dermot O’Leary
What do ITV’s This Morning, Big Brother’s Little Brother, The X Factor and Toto the Ninja Cat all have in common? The answer is Dermot O’Leary who presented them all and wrote a number of children’s books about Toto. Thses days, Dermot is pretty much a household name in the UK.
Dermot has fronted the UK Music Hall of Fame on Ch4 which featured Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan. He interviewed Madonna, also for Ch4 called Confessions of Madonna. Dermot has hosted Comic Relief with Davina McCall and Jonthan Ross, along with numerous other one off’s for television.
He spent 9 years hosting ITV’s National Television Awards which he started doing in 2010.
Going back to Dermot O’Leary’s earliest days. He was originally an award winning radio presenter with Radio Essex. He later moved to Channel 4 and in 2001 he started presenting Big Brother’s Little Brother. This was a programme which ran alongside Big Brother. It was a magazine type programme where evictees from the Big Brother house were interviewd along with celebrities and fan’s views on the programme. The show stopped when it was moved to Channel 5.
At this point Dermot’s face was a familier sight on TV but it was only the begining. In 2007 he was back on the box as presenter of ITV’s The X Factor. One of TV’s most succeful talent shows ever, Dermot presented the show for the next 11 years.
Currently Dermot O’Leary presents alongside Alison Hammond on ITV’s This Morning. He hosted the 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards alongside Edith Bowman and he has been hosting UNICEF’s Soccer Aid since 2010.
