Des Clarke is a comedian, Heart Radio DJ and television presenter. He has been described as one of the UK ‘s most exciting stars and one of television’s hottest presenters.
Des’s long standing BBC radio show “Breaking the News” was so well received, it transferred over to BBC television in 2019.
One of the biggest live events Des Clarke performed at, was the Commonwealth Games. There was over a quarter of a million people at the event. Des also hosted the closing ceremony, live on TV. It was broadcast around the world. 
Thanks to his sparkling wit and enthusiastic presenting skills, Des beat thousands of hopefuls to be asked to host ITV1’s legendary Saturday morning live programme SMTV Live. He made the transition into prime time television, becoming anchor of BBC 1 Scotland’s live Children in Need. A programme he has covered for a number of years.
Early Career:
He originally made his mark as a sports broadcaster, hosting programmes on the Setanta Sports Network. Whilst doing this Des appeared regularly on BBC1 Scotland’s flagship football show Sportscene. His impressive presenting CV includes, Invention SOS for Discovery, Sky One’s youth show, Whatever and How To Purchase Abroad on Overseas Property TV.
In addition, Des Clarke has gained widespread industry recognition for his radio work. He won the prestigious X-TRAX British Radio Awards. Des was Presenter Of The Year for his Breakfast show on Beat 106. He was also part of the SONY Award nominated North by North North sketch show. Next was a regular guest on Gabby Logan’s Radio 5 Live programme before hosting hosting his own shows on BBC Radio Scotland and Clyde 1.
Des Clarke was asked to present the backstage celebrity coverage at the MTV Europe Awards and also T in the Park. He has had the opportunity to interview some of the world’s biggest music and film stars. These include Beyonce, Robbie Williams and Britney Spears. Also, Justin Timberlake, Kylie and Christina Aguilera.
His show-stealing spot on The Weakest Link, Stand Up Comedy Special was a huge hit. He featured as a regular cast member for the third series of BBC1 Scotland’s cult comedy Live Floor Show. This was after he guest starred in the previous two series.
Edinburgh Festival:
Des has performed his own full length sell-out comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Also the show was at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival. He has played at Comedy Festivals all over the world, with appearances at the New York , Adelaide , Dublin and Dubai.
Des Clarke Scottish Comedian is also well known as a celebrity newspaper columnist as well as an accomplished After Dinner Speaker and Event Host.
