Dex’s career demonstrates a rare combination of public policy expertise, corporate communications leadership and innovation at the highest levels of industry. After earning a BA in Politics from University College London and an MPhil in Russian and European Studies from the University of Oxford, he began his career at the United Nations as a Media Consultant. There, he was instrumental in transforming the organisation’s communications, from crisis response to its pioneering use of social media for global engagement. He then became the first Executive Speechwriter at Google, shaping the voices of Eric Schmidt, Larry Page and other senior leaders.

Moving on to Facebook, Dex became the company’s first Head of Executive Communications, where he managed internal messaging, strategic storytelling and crisis communications. His expertise later took him to SpaceX as Head of Communications, and to Brunswick Group as Director and Chief of Staff. As Vice President of Global Communications & Public Engagement for the Oversight Board Administration, he helped establish the founding strategy for Meta’s independent board. Today, Dex leads communications and marketing at Google DeepMind, while also serving as a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge Thinklab.
