After apprenticing with Derby-winning trainer Michael Bell in 2005, she secured 44 wins and claimed the title of Champion Apprentice, quickly establishing herself as a rising star. Despite a career-interrupting injury in 2009, Hayley returned stronger, riding 60 winners that year and later receiving the Most Inspirational Sportswoman Award in 2011. In 2012, she became only the second female jockey to ride in the Epsom Derby.
