John McLaughlin is a producer, songwriter and speaker with 3 UK No.1 records and 17 Top Ten hits. They include Busted “What I Go To School For”, Westlife “Queen Of My Heart”, 911 “Bodyshakin” and Sandi Thom “Punk Rocker With Flowers In My Hair”. He is a BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.) winner for 1 million airplays worldwide for 5ive’s “When The Light’s Go Out” and he was presented with a European Airplay Award for David Charvet’s – “Leap Of Faith”.
In 2003 the BBC aired a documentary about John’s career called The Hitman which featured Simon Cowell, Mark Owen from Take That, Matt Goss from Bros, Ian McCulloch from Echo & The Bunnymen and many more.
John was BBC’s Fame Academy Songwriting Coach for 2 Consecutive Years (2002/3).
Born in Glasgow, John received a Great Scot Award for his contributions to music and also a Radio Clyde Award in recognition of his success in pop music. In 2013 John was the recipient of the Nordoff Robins Living Legend Award.
2015 saw John reform and manage the 70’s iconic band, The Bay City Rollers. This resulted in 2 major sellout UK tours with concert promoters Cuffe & Taylor.
- 2018 – John worked with mega star Sir Rod Stewart and co-wrote ‘Julia’ on Rod’s no.1 album ‘Blood Red Roses’.
- Oct 2018 – signed publishing deal with BMG Rights Management
- John has a cut ‘Highways & Heartaches’ on the 2019 Country movie, Wild Rose, starring Jessie Buckley and Julie Walters.
- May/Jun/Jul & Nov/Dec 2019 – John’s Celtic folk band Johnny Mac and The Faithful supported Rod Stewart on his 2019 UK & Ireland summer Stadium & winter Arena tours .
- Jan 2020 – signed a recording contract with major label DECCA records for his celticfolk and Rock’n’Roll band ‘Johnny Mac and The Faithful’, of which he is Johnny Mac (songwriter/producer/singer)
