Louise Minchin is one of the BBC’s top journalists and presenters. As a news anchor, she regularly presented Breakfast on BBC One, and the One O’clock news. She also had a regular slot on the BBC News Channel.
Louise Minchin presents Sunday Life on BBC with Colin Jackson which is broadcast at 10am on Sunday mornings from Yorkshire.
In 2008 Louise presented Missing Live on BBC One. As a result of appeals made during the programme a dozen missing people were found. Louise was then invited to present the programme again in early 2009.
During her career as a news presenter Louise covered major news stories of the last decade. Louise anchored many of the BBC’s coverage of major news stories including the 77 bombings. She also presented BBC One’s Ten O’clock news on the day Saddam Hussein was executed.
Louise trained as a journalist at the London College of Printing, (now called the London College of Communication). She has a degree in Spanish from the University of St Andrews and spent a year living and working in Latin-America as part of her degree.
Louise first started at the BBC as a production assistant at the World Service, and the Today programme. After her journalism degree she went on to spend five years presenting on Five Live, on Sport on Five, Drive and Breakfast, and then moved to the BBC News Channel.
In 2007 she made a documentary Darcey’s Swansong. This was about the retirement of Britain’s most famous ballerina. It was broadcast on BBC World and BBC News.
Louise has played herself as a news presenter in both Spooks, and Silent Witness.
In 2019, two years before Louise Minchin left BBC Breakfast, she discussed here experience of the menopause in a programme. She mentioned how she would suffer hot flushes in the BBC Breakfast studio and this led the BBC to reducing the temperature on set.
Louise also chairs conferences and seminars and is a highly skilled conference facilitator and after dinner speaker. She has a wealth of experience hosting events and award ceremonies, both at home and abroad.
