Rylan Clark-Neal or just ‘Rylan’ as he is mainly known, started his career at age 16. He was a part time male model. It was in 2012 when fame struck him. This was after he managed to get through to the bootcamp of The X Factor. He reached the quarter finals based on a huge public vote. Rylan was now a household name.
Next came Celebrity Big Brother in 2013. This was series 11 which had Steps singer Claire Richards, Eastenders’ Gillian Taylforth, Champion Jokey Frankie Dettori and former footballer Razor Ruddock. Others included the US reality TV couple Speidi (Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt) who came second. However, it was Rylan Clark-Neal who was the outright winner. This was despite the fact that half way through the series it was announced Rylan had been leaving the Big Brother house on Sundays for the X Factor live tour. This was very much against the rules but did not affect the result.
Rylan’s popularity was such, in 2015 he took on the role of the sole presenter of Big Brother’s Bit on The Side.
ITV’s This Morning regularly invited Rylan to give out the gossip on The X Factor. He then became a relief presenter for This Morning, working with the likes of Lorraine Kelly, Ruth Langsford, Holly Willoughby and others. By 2016 he was now a co-presenter of The X Factor Live. He is one of only two former contestants to host the show.
Next was an old favourite on morning television to now receive the Rylan touch. Supermarket Sweep had started again in 2019 with a new revived format and Rylan as host.
He has also commentated on the Eurovision Song Contest and regularly broadcasts on BBC Radio 2. Strictly Come Dancing saw him as a presenter and he became host of the BBC cooking programme Ready Steady Cook. Since 2019 Rylan Clark-Neal has also been a regular stand-in presenter on BBC1’s The One Show.
A number of game shows beckoned and in 2021 Rylan appeared on Taskmaster and has been a guest on Have I Got News For You. He was on Ian Hislop’s team with Jo Brand presenting and Robert Peston on Paul’s team.
