Scotty Mills has inspired me as a Leader and had a big impact on what I’ve done over the last couple of years.
Gareth Southgate OBE England Football Manager
Scotty Mills knows about Leadership and Teamwork. In recent times, he has used his knowledge gained over years in The Royal Marines to help England football, rugby and Hockey but what sets him apart, is where he started off as a teenager and where he ended up. Scotty is now a motivational and inspirational speaker. He is also a performance leadership and culture specialist. Now in demand by many industries looking for Scotty to inspire their employees to achieve their impossible dreams.
Scotty Mills is a former Royal Marine Commando (green beret) who spent thirty two years in the service. Originally from a less salubrious part of South London, Scotty joined the Marines as a teenager and never looked back. He feels he would have ended up in prison had he not joined.
Steadily climbing the ranks, Scotty Mills eventually became the highest ranked commissioned black officer the Marines has ever had.
In 2003 Scotty went on to lead the invasion of Iraq. He and his troops were the first men on the ground in a daring, night time mission to secure the flow of oil out of Iraq. He has been involved in missions all over the world.
When acting as Commanding Officer, Scotty Mills paved the way as team leader of a group of specialists in recovery. Scotty and his team were responsible for helping rebuild the lives of hundreds of battle-scarred physically and mentally broken injured service people. This was across all four armed forces, The British Army, Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, and the Royal Marines.
“I’m just an ordinary lad from South London who got to do some extraordinary things”
He also led the physical training of all 6,500 of the UK’s commandos.
In 2022 Scotty published his book: Never Give In: The 12 Commando Rules for Life
