Sian Williams had been a main presenter on BBC Breakfast since 2001. She originally worked alongside Dermot Murnaghan and latterly with Bill Turnbull who sadly died in August 2022. Sian stayed with Breakfast for 11 years, during which time she regularly presented the News at Six. She also occasionally presented the News at One and the News at Ten.
From 2010 to 2013 she fronted an investigation for BBC Watchdog and she presented National Treasures Live on BBC. She guest presented on Crimewatch and The Andrew Marr Show.
2012 saw the London Olympics and Sian was back in her breakfast slot. This time hosting the BBC’s Olympic Breakfast.
Between 2015 and 2022 Sian took over as the main anchor on 5 News at 5. She continues to make TV and radio shows for the BBC.
Apart from her work as a journalist Sian has an MSc in Psychology. She is a trained trauma assessor and has made three Radio 4 series on the mind and the brain: The Thought Chamber, How to Build a Better Brain (described by The Psychologist magazine as “touching and illuminating, a great listen”) and The Science of Resilience.
2016 saw the launch of her book, Rise: Surviving and Thriving after Trauma. It is a very personal story of how you can rebuild after a traumatic, life shattering event.
Sian Williams is a popular choice of host or facilitator and is a regular face at many of the UK’s top Award events including: The Royal Television Society Awards, Retail Week’s Annual Conference, The Inspirational Women of the Year Awards, Bafta Cymru and The UK Press Awards, to name a few.
