Will Greenwood was born October 20th, 1972 in Blackburn. His father Dick Greenwood played as flanker for and also later coached the England Rugby team. Will then went on to study Economics at Durham University. On graduating he took up a position on the City trading floor at Midland Global Markets (now HSBC). He had been thrown in to a highly pressurised environment based on split second decisions, it also proved invaluable experience for his subsequent career in rugby and as a business speaker.
Will Greenwood made his International debut in November 1997 at Twickenham against Australia. He became an important part of England team, notably establishing a centre partnership with Jeremy Guscott. In 2003 Will was selected and became an integral part of England’s 2003 World Cup Victory in Australia.
In 2005 Will was injured for the Six Nations. However, he was selected for the 2005 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. This was also his third Lions tour.
Will Greenwood is one of England’s greatest ever rugby players, as well as one of the sports most engaging, intelligent and witty characters. He is the second highest try scorer in English rugby history.
In 2014 Will Greenwood hosted Sky’s School of Hard Knocks. This was a programme where Will took on a group of would be, up and coming Rugby players of the future and helped them on their way.
