Davina McCall is a television presenter known for hosting Big Brother from its earliest days in 2000.
She has twice hosted both the BAFTA TV Awards and the BRIT Awards. Comic Relief is also a staple diet of Davina’s, having been the telethon co-host since 2005.
Big Brother:
Davina’s connection with Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother goes back many years. Davina presented the first ten years from 2000. She has since been a regular presenter on many of the spin off shows. The Big Brother Best Shows Ever series started in 2020 where Davina co-presented them with Rylan Clark-Neal. She also co-presented Sport Relief for twelve years from 2006.
The Jump:
Who could forget Channel 4’s The Jump? Davina presented four series of it between 2014 and 2017 with Eddie The Eagle as the mentor. Yes, a television show with more concussions, broken bones and head injuries and that was just the training. For some reason the celebrities were queuing to get on the show not realising many were being stretchered off. Names like comedian Marcus Brigstocke, TV presenter Anthea Turner and Olympian Sir Steven Redgrave were just some of the names on the show but the word was out and some potential celebrity candidates had decided to withdraw before the show had even started.
Davina McCall has been a regular face on our screens since the early 90’s. However, it would be safe to say the year 2000 was her breakthrough year with Big Brother and The Brit Awards. These days it’s not uncommon to see Davina McCall appear presenting or hosting on two or three different programmes each year.
Davina has a number of books published but her 2016 book about her life called Lessons I’ve Learned talks frankly about people she has met, people who have helped and supported her through difficult times and how that support has kept her going.
