Credentials and Impact

Before discovering her passion for exploration, Katie-Jane worked as a successful model, featuring in campaigns for brands such as M&S and Alexander McQueen, and even worked as Cameron Diaz’s body double in ‘The Holiday’. Her life took a dramatic turn when she met renowned explorer Tarka L’Herpiniere, and together they set out to attempt one of the most ambitious expeditions ever undertaken — walking the entire length of the Great Wall of China.

Battling exhaustion, frostbite, blizzards and near-starvation, Katie-Jane endured immense physical and mental challenges, at one point being hospitalised twice and losing an inch in height due to the weight of her backpack. Despite the odds, she completed the journey, covering the equivalent of 102 marathons and achieving a world first. Following this, she went on to cycle through Ethiopia and become the first woman to complete a major crossing of the Southern Patagonian Ice Cap. Her resilience, discipline and courage have since made her a role model for perseverance and the power of the human spirit.
