Credentials and Impact
Before becoming an explorer, Richard enjoyed a successful rugby career representing Wales internationally and playing professionally in England and France. A life-changing injury ended his sporting career prematurely, but it marked the beginning of a new and extraordinary chapter. Channelling his competitive spirit into exploration, Richard completed the 737 Challenge—climbing the highest peak on each of the seven continents and reaching both poles in just six months, eleven days, seven hours and fifty-three minutes, setting a new world record. He has since skied more solo, unsupported and unassisted miles in Antarctica than anyone in history, establishing himself as one of the world’s leading polar and alpine athletes.
Beyond his physical feats, Richard has built an influential career in media, producing and presenting acclaimed documentaries including ‘Extreme Wales’, ‘Climbing Out of Lockdown’ and ITV’s ‘Can I Be Welsh and Black?’, which explored identity and belonging. His work has been featured on the BBC, Sky, Channel 5 and Apple, and he continues to inspire through partnerships with major global brands such as British Airways, Red Bull and Discovery.
