Catriona Shearer is one of Scotland’s most popular TV presenters and event host. Apart from her appearances on BBC Breakfast, Catriona is a regular presenter on the station’s main news programme ‘Reporting Scotland‘.
Early Days
She began her journalistic career soon after graduation from Edinburgh’s Napier University in 2003. Catriona Shearer then moved to London where she worked as a journalist-producer on BBC Radio Five Live’s Breakfast programme. She also worked on the station’s ‘Drive’ programme, ‘Midday News’ and ‘Weekend Breakfast show’. Catriona’s love of music saw her keen to be involved in Radio 1’s specialist late-night music programmes.
The next move for Catriona Shearer was to BBC Radio Wales in Cardiff. She worked there as a producer across a wide range of light entertainment, lifestyle and music programmes. She even presented a Saturday afternoon sports programme, ‘Sportstime’
BBC Scotland’s ‘News Weekly’ was Catriona’s first on-screen presenting job. It was an online video podcast.
She has held many jobs in the Glasgow newsroom, from radio producer on ‘Newsdrive’ to studio producer on ‘Scotland Live’. She was also a travel reporter on ‘Good Morning Scotland’ outputting the TV bulletins. Finally, she also presented a radio quiz series for BBC Radio Scotland called ‘Soundbiters’.
Catriona Shearer is a keen music fan and regularly attends festival and concerts. She occasionally indulges her passion for music by presenting the Vic Galloway show. Also the New Music Zone for BBC Scotland. Sport is also of interest to Catriona Shearer and she has been on BBC Scotland’s ‘Only an Excuse’ and sat in with Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan on their popular ‘Off the Ball’ radio programme.
As well as being widely recognised as one of BBC Scotland’s top TV presenters, Catriona Shearer is a superb facilitator and a dynamic awards host with a sharp wit and a great sense of humour.
